Dead Kings, Abandon All Hope - Wollongong

More photos from the NSW dates with Dead Kings, these are from the Wollongong show.
Bare 430ex on a stand at the front either side of stage.
This is Everest, they were the only non metalcore band on the bill, they played a Minor Threat and a Gorilla Biscuits cover. I liked them. (Actually Never Content also played this show, and they're not a metalcore band either, I missed out seeing them at this show but check them out, their myspace songs sound good. Also I don't mean to say I don't like metalcore, it's just that 5 of those bands playing in a row can be a bit monotonous sometimes.)

Abandon All Hope were playing all the shows with Dead Kings, the bands were traveling separately so I didn't really get to hang out with these guys much at all.

For Dead Kings I moved the camera right flash to the back right of the stage and added a blue gel.

This show was also Another Days Remains' album launch, so they headlined it, they are real popular in Wollongong.

After the show we stayed at Matt's house, some of his friends tried to set him on fire while he slept.

Paddy knows how to pump.

Dead Kings - Hot Damn

In January I traveled with Dead Kings for the NSW part of their tour.
These are the photos from the Hot Damn show.

I lit this show with a bare 430ex each side of stage, both were a little further back than I would have preferred, but this was the only place I could really set them up out of the way. All taken with my 400D.

And here's some photos of the guys between shows.

Rohan doesn't take protein supplements, he thinks they're "for pussies."

This is Paddy he managed the tour, and manages Dead Kings, he's also a graphic designer who does a lot of their merch.

This is Ollie he sings in Fixtures, and he was running a few of these shows.

This photo is just asking to have something Photoshopped into Ollie's hand, so get on it.

Bit of an update

I haven't posted anything here for a bit, so here's a few random things.
I spent the last four days in Melbourne with I Exist as they recorded their new album 'A Turn For The Worse' with Jason Fuller from Blood Duster.
I took a lot of photos and video, I am unsure what I'm doing with either, but hopefully the photos will go in a magazine or two. Here's a few of them.
These were taken with my new camera, a Canon 5D Mark II and my new lens, a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8. As well as photos I've been taking a lot of video with it.
This is the second camera I have owned, every photo previous to this has been taken with my Canon 400D. I still have a lot of photos from my 400D to sort through, edit and put online, including a bunch from the shows Dead Kings played in New South Wales.

Here's some video from a few recent shows. These were the first times I shot video with my 5D, I have done absolutely nothing to the sound and video, except to compress it to a smaller file size before uploading. It was shot wide open at f/1.8, at the maximum ISO in very low light, so this is basically the worst that video can look coming out of this camera. Very shallow depth of field and manual focus make it hard to keep the subjects sharp.

These two shows are coming up in Canberra this week. The first is Damo's last show as vocalist for Dead Kings and the second is Slowburn's last ever show.

And I'm going to these shows in Queensland.
